The domain of the majestic Bengal tiger, Ranthambore National Park is starkly beautiful, its green and gold hues the perfect backdrop to Aman-i-Khás.
Situated on the threshold of the reserve, this intimate tented camp offers incomparable privacy and daily safaris seeking out the reserve’s wildlife.
Back at camp, spa therapies, swimming and dining take centre stage.
Aman-i-Khás Location
From Delhi Airport guests can travel four or six hours by train with Aman butler service to Sawai Madhopur, followed by a 20-minute car ride to Aman-i-Khás. Alternatively, guests can take a one hour flight from Delhi to Jaipur, followed by a three-hour drive to the property.
Aman-i-Khás Tents
On the outskirts of Ranthambore National Park, the camp’s ten expansive and luxurious tents overlook a ruggedly beautiful landscape that is home to abundant wildlife.
Positioned to ensure utmost privacy, the Tents offer soaring living spaces decorated with classic furnishings. The light-filled bathing area features a free-standing bathtub and shower, while the living room has twin writing desks.
Each tent is filled with light and offers an expansive 108 square metres (1,162 square feet) of space, with a soaring bedroom, living area with daybed, dining area and bathroom with free-standing bathtub and shower. Elegantly furnished, the tents are positioned to ensure utmost privacy, each with their own sun deck, ideal for watching passing birdlife.
Dining
Beloved all over the world, Indian cuisine is renowned for its use of colourful, fragrant spices, its delicate layering of flavours and its balance between vegetarian and meat dishes. Using local family recipes passed down through the generations, our chefs also offer lighter variations of the classics and a range of international dishes, all of which can be tailored to suit individual tastes.
A lush oasis tended by dedicated gardeners, the camp’s organic kitchen garden provides fresh fruit, vegetables and herbs for the Dining Tent’s ever-changing menus. Chefs visit daily, to handpick what they need, and delight in touring the gardens with curious guests.
Dining Tent
The lamp-lit ambience of the Dining Tent with its large communal table, multiple smaller settings and outdoor terrace harks back to the regal tent cities of Mughal emperors.
The carefully curated menu offers international favourites as well as authentic Indian fare, including fragrant Rajasthani thalis. These round platters present a selection of various dishes from curries to dhal, accompanied by rice and homemade roti.
Fireplace
At the heart of the camp, the open-air fire pit is surrounded by comfortable seating with views of the surrounding forest. It is an ideal setting for informal meals or for basking in the serenity of the wilderness and the star-filled night sky. Nightly log fires make it a gathering point – a post-dinner outdoor salon where guests recount and reflect on the day’s explorations.
Spa and Wellness
Centred around a bubbling fountain, the Spa Tent houses two double treatment rooms in which holistic therapies distilled from millennia of experience in the healing arts can be enjoyed.
Multi-sensory journeys of traditional Ayurvedic wisdom are offered alongside massages, the gentle healing touch of Reiki and various scrubs, wraps and baths. Outdoor yoga sessions revitalise, and the lounger-lined pool is modelled on the area’s ancient step-wells.
Experiences at Aman-i-Khás
With their vast knowledge of Rajasthan’s wildlife, history and cultural traditions, Aman-i-Khas guides ensure deeply personal and enlightening adventure experiences, whether tiger spotting in Ranthambore National Park, exploring dramatic Khandar Fort, bird-watching in the lush Banas riverbed or taking a camel safari through villages on the park’s outskirts.
Situated within the National Park, Ranthambore Fort is one of the oldest in India and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, protected by sheer cliffs on three sides and dotted with Jain and Hindu temples. Beneath a tree in a secluded part of the camp, men can enjoy an open-air shave in the traditional Indian fashion by Roop, the camp’s resident barber. Local women demonstrate delicate and temporary henna skin art, traditionally applied to the hands, arms and feet of brides-to-be.
Venture into Ranthambore National Park in an open-top vehicle with an expert wildlife guide. Once the hunting ground of the Maharaja of Jaipur, the Park has been a wildlife sanctuary since 1955 and is one of the best places in the world to see tigers in the wild.
Resting on the outskirts of the Park, Aman-i-Khás offers twice-daily safaris into its pristine wilderness – just after sunrise in the morning, and in the late afternoon – the best times of day to spot wildlife.
The National Park is home to crocodiles, leopards, jackals, sambar deer and some 300 species of birds, but it is the Bengal tiger for which it is best known. With almost 90 resident tigers in the park, the chance of spotting these magnificent creatures – possibly even with cubs – is high, but if they prove elusive, the experience is no less rich, for this primal wilderness is alive with wonder.
